BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Elaine S. Lindstrom, a 37-year-old woman from Birmingham, has died following a tragic single-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon on Interstate 22 in Walker County, Alabama. The fatal crash happened at approximately 2 p.m. Monday on Interstate 22, about three miles southeast of Cordova. According to Alabama State Troopers, Lindstrom was traveling in a Nissan Sentra when her vehicle left the interstate for reasons that remain under investigation.
Senior Trooper Gregory Corble said the Nissan Sentra veered off the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle then became airborne before striking a riverbank and ultimately entering the river.
