ABBEVILLE, Miss. — Chloe Johnson, 19, of Abbeville, tragically lost her life Friday in a devastating single-vehicle crash on County Road 103 near County Road 104. The crash also left Zoe Johnson, 19, seriously injured and fighting for her life in a Memphis hospital. What began as an ordinary day ended in heartbreak for a family now facing a loss no loved one should ever have to endure.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at approximately 4:07 p.m. reporting the crash. Deputies arrived to find the vehicle involved in the collision on the east side of County Road 103.

With the vehicle beginning to catch fire, deputies immediately rushed to rescue the two young women trapped inside. Both occupants were successfully removed before the situation became even more dangerous.

The Lafayette County Fire Department and Baptist EMS arrived and began providing emergency medical care.

Sadly, Chloe could not be saved. Lafayette County Coroner Glenn Coleman pronounced her deceased at the scene.

She was only 19 years old.

Nineteen years is far too short for a life to end. There were supposed to be more birthdays, more laughter, more family gatherings, more friendships, more dreams, and countless memories still waiting to be made.

Instead, Chloe’s loved ones are now left with memories of the beautiful moments they shared with her and the painful reality that she will not be coming home.

Zoe was transported by Hospital Wing to Region One Medical Center in Memphis, where she remains in critical but stable condition. As Chloe’s family mourns, they are also undoubtedly holding onto hope and praying for Zoe’s recovery.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities said the accident appears to have involved only one vehicle, and no foul play is suspected.

Sheriff Joey East said the community is heartbroken by the loss of such a young woman and asked residents to keep Chloe’s family in their thoughts and prayers while respecting their privacy.

For those who knew Chloe, her name will forever carry memories of a life that mattered. Though her time was tragically short, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain.

Rest peacefully, Chloe Johnson.

Your life was taken far too soon, but your memory will never be taken away.

Forever 19. Forever loved. Forever remembered.
