WILSON, N.C. — A Wilson family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 54-year-old Khisa Hhalille Williams, who died Saturday morning after being shot during what police described as a domestic dispute.
According to the Wilson Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, to 4945 Raleigh Road Parkway following a report of a domestic situation in progress.
While officers were on their way to the location, Wilson County Emergency Communications notified responding officers that a woman had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency personnel immediately began providing assistance, and Williams was transported for medical treatment. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital.
For her family, friends and loved ones, the devastating news marked the beginning of an unimaginable period of grief.
Khisa was only 54 years old, and her death has left behind memories of a life that meant something to the people who knew and loved her.
To those closest to her, Khisa was more than the victim named in a police investigation. She was a loved one, a friend and a member of a family that now has to face the painful reality of her sudden absence.
Her life cannot be reduced to the circumstances of her death.
She had her own story, her own memories, her own relationships and countless moments that were shared with the people around her. Those are the memories her loved ones will hold onto as they mourn.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot near the fuel pumps of a Shell gas station located in front of the Quality Inn and Suites Wilson I-95, near the intersection of Raleigh Road Parkway and Interstate 95.
The location became an active crime scene as investigators worked to gather evidence and reconstruct the circumstances that led to the shooting.
The Shell gas station was closed Saturday while police cordoned off the property and conducted their investigation.
Wilson Fire/Rescue Services and Wilson County Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene.
Police are investigating Williams’ death as a homicide.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or publicly identified a suspect in the information provided.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine what happened and why the confrontation turned deadly.
For Khisa’s loved ones, however, the investigation is only one part of a much larger tragedy.
They are now left to grieve someone who should have had more time with her family and friends.
Sudden loss can leave loved ones with countless emotions. There may be shock, disbelief, sadness and unanswered questions. The pain can be especially difficult when a person dies unexpectedly and violently.
In the days ahead, memories of Khisa will become even more important.
Her loved ones will remember the moments that made them smile, the conversations they shared, the times they spent together and the simple memories that may have once seemed ordinary.
Those memories now become priceless.
Although her life was tragically cut short, the impact she had on the people around her does not disappear.
Every life leaves a mark.
Khisa’s memory will continue through the people who knew her and the stories they share about her. Her family will carry her name forward and remember her for the person she was, rather than allowing the circumstances of her death to define her entire life.
The Wilson community is also being asked to help investigators as they work to uncover the truth.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
Information from the public could help investigators piece together what happened and provide answers to Khisa’s family.
As the investigation continues, the thoughts and prayers of the community remain with Khisa’s family, friends and everyone affected by this devastating loss.
May her loved ones find strength in one another during the difficult days ahead.
May they find comfort in the memories she left behind and in the knowledge that her life mattered to those around her.
There will be moments when her absence is deeply felt — during family gatherings, holidays, birthdays and ordinary days when someone wishes they could simply hear her voice again.
But the love people have for someone does not end with their passing.
Rest peacefully, Khisa Hhalille Williams. 🕊️
May you rest in eternal peace, and may your family find comfort and strength as they mourn your tragic passing.
May your memory live on through every person who knew and loved you. May your name continue to be spoken with love, and may the memories of your life bring comfort when the grief feels overwhelming.
Gone far too soon, but never forgotten. Forever loved, forever missed, forever remembered.
The investigation remains ongoing as Wilson police continue working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and Williams’ death.
