NEW BOSTON, TEXAS — With sadness, Kenneth Eugene Jordan, 48, of New Boston, is being remembered following his death during a deadly officer-involved shooting Saturday morning near New Boston.
Kenneth’s life came to a tragic end during a tense encounter with law enforcement after authorities responded to a reported violent incident at a home on County Road 3103 near Highway 82.
According to the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said Jordan was involved in an incident in which one woman was stabbed and another was assaulted. The stabbing victim managed to escape and ran toward a neighbor’s home, with Jordan reportedly following her.
A nearby homeowner intervened, armed himself, and held Jordan at gunpoint until law enforcement officers arrived. The sheriff’s office said the homeowner’s actions likely saved the injured woman’s life.
When deputies arrived, Jordan was reportedly still armed with a knife. Officers attempted to bring the situation under control using less-lethal measures, including deploying Tasers twice and a pepper ball launcher. Authorities said Jordan did not drop the knife.
The situation ultimately escalated when Jordan turned toward a New Boston Police Department K-9 and its handler. A Hooks police officer fired his weapon, striking Jordan.
Kenneth was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His death has now left a painful chapter for everyone affected by the incident. While authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, those who knew Kenneth are left to remember a life that has now come to an unexpected and tragic end.
