According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the crash happened shortly before 12:45 p.m. in the 6000 block of Geer Highway in Cleveland. The collision involved Owens’ motorcycle and another vehicle, though authorities have not yet released additional details about how the crash occurred.

Emergency responders were quickly called to the scene. Greenville County EMS personnel arrived and provided the necessary emergency response, but Owens could not be saved. He was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:04 p.m.

For those who knew and loved Samuel, the news of his death is undoubtedly difficult to comprehend. What began as an ordinary Saturday afternoon ended in a devastating tragedy, leaving a family and community facing the painful reality of losing someone they cared about.

Samuel Owens was only 52 years old. His death serves as another heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change and how fragile every moment can be. A motorcycle ride that day ended with a family receiving news no loved one ever wants to hear.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified Owens as the victim while continuing to work alongside the South Carolina Highway Patrol to determine exactly what led to the collision. An external examination is scheduled for August 17, and officials said Owens’ official cause and manner of death remain pending as the investigation continues.

At this time, authorities have not released further information about the other vehicle involved or the circumstances that may have contributed to the crash. Investigators are expected to examine the scene, available evidence and other information as they work to establish a complete account of what happened.

While the investigation continues, the focus for Owens’ loved ones is on remembering the man behind the heartbreaking headlines.

Samuel’s passing leaves behind memories that cannot be replaced. For family and friends, there will be moments when his absence is felt most deeply—in conversations, familiar places, shared memories and the ordinary moments of everyday life that suddenly feel different without him.

As the Liberty community remembers Samuel, those closest to him may find comfort in the memories they shared and the moments that made his life meaningful. Though his life was tragically cut short, the memories he created with others will remain.

The circumstances surrounding the crash will continue to be investigated, but no investigation can measure the personal loss experienced by those who loved him. Behind every traffic collision is a human story, and in this case, that story belongs to Samuel Caleb Owens, a 52-year-old Liberty man whose life ended far too soon.

During this difficult time, thoughts and prayers are with Samuel’s family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him. May they find strength in one another and comfort in the memories they carry forward.
