NEW YORK, NEW YORK — There are some losses that words can never truly explain. The loss of Iisiz Lopez, 20, is one of those heartbreaking tragedies — a young life taken far too soon, leaving behind a family, friends, and loved ones who must now face the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye.
Iisiz was only 20 years old.
Twenty years is far too short for a life to end. There were still dreams to chase, places to go, birthdays to celebrate, smiles to share, and countless memories waiting to be made. There were still conversations that should have happened, hugs that should have been given, and moments with loved ones that should have stretched across many more years.
But on Friday, August 7, 2026, everything changed.
At approximately 2:57 p.m., a devastating multi-vehicle crash occurred on the northbound Garden State Parkway near milepost 75.8 in Lacey Township, Ocean County.
Iisiz was traveling as a passenger in a Toyota sedan when the vehicle veered from the roadway and struck a guiderail. The Toyota then returned to the travel lanes and collided with a northbound Hyundai sedan.
The impact was devastating.
Iisiz, who was seated in the rear of the Toyota, was ejected from the vehicle. An infant was also ejected. Despite the circumstances surrounding the crash, Iisiz suffered fatal injuries.
And just like that, a life that held so much promise was gone.
For the people who loved Iisiz, the news is more than a headline or a police report. It is the loss of someone whose presence cannot simply be replaced.
It is the phone that will never ring with her name again.
It is the empty space where she should have been.
