Mark Morgan has been identified by his family as the man who was found fatally shot Tuesday morning at a property on South Road in Somers, Connecticut, as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Connecticut State Police said troopers assigned to Troop C in Tolland responded to the area at around 4 a.m. after receiving a report of a suspicious incident.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered a person suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel responded, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified by his family as Mark Morgan.
Police have not yet released further information about Morgan, including his age, and officials have not provided a detailed account of what led to the shooting. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene and gather evidence as they work to determine the events that preceded the fatal incident.
A second individual was also located at the property and detained by responding officers. Authorities have not released that person’s identity or clarified whether the individual has been formally arrested or will face criminal charges.
