With profound sadness, we remember Austin McCulloch, 28, of Beaverton, Michigan, who tragically lost his life in an ATV crash Monday afternoon in Gladwin County.

According to the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, to investigate a personal injury accident involving an ATV on McCulloch Road, south of Calhoun Road, in Beaverton Township.

When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they discovered that the operator of the ATV, identified as Austin, had been involved in a serious crash. Tragically, Austin did not survive his injuries.

The preliminary on-scene investigation indicated that Austin had been traveling northbound on McCulloch Road before losing control of the ATV. The vehicle involved was identified as a 2023 Can-Am Outlander 4×4 quad-runner.

At this time, authorities believe that no other vehicle was involved in the crash. However, investigators have emphasized that the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation and that no assumptions are being made regarding the exact cause of the crash.

Members of the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office were assisted at the scene by Beaverton Fire & Rescue and medical professionals from MyMichigan Ambulance Service. Emergency responders worked at the scene following the devastating incident as authorities began documenting evidence and determining what happened.

Austin’s sudden death has left his family, friends, and community facing an unimaginable loss. At just 28 years old, his life was tragically cut short, leaving behind memories that will remain with everyone who knew and cared about him.

For those closest to Austin, he was much more than the victim of an ATV crash. He was a son, a friend, a loved one, and someone whose presence brought meaning to the lives of others. His passing has created a painful absence that cannot easily be put into words.

The investigation into the crash remains active. Authorities will continue examining the scene and available evidence as they work to understand the circumstances that led to Austin losing control of the ATV.

The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office has expressed its heartfelt condolences to Austin’s family during this difficult time. Officials are also asking members of the public to show compassion and respect for the family by refraining from posting derogatory or hurtful comments on social media regarding the tragedy.

In moments of loss, words can have a lasting impact. Austin’s family is now grieving someone they loved, and they deserve understanding, privacy, and support as they navigate the days ahead.

May Austin’s family and friends find strength in the memories they shared with him. May the moments of laughter, friendship, and love remain close to their hearts and provide comfort during this painful time.

Although Austin’s life ended far too soon, the memories he created will continue to live on through the people who knew and loved him.

Rest peacefully, Austin McCulloch.
