With profound sadness, we remember Aamiyah Jackson, 22, whose life was tragically cut short Thursday morning after she was struck by a vehicle on FM 700, also known as Marcy Drive, in Big Spring, Texas. Her sudden passing has left loved ones and those who knew her facing an unimaginable loss, as a young life filled with possibilities came to an unexpected end.

The heartbreaking crash happened at approximately 6:40 a.m. in the 1600 block of West FM 700. Officers with the Big Spring Police Department responded to the scene and discovered a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander and a pedestrian involved in the collision. The pedestrian was identified as Aamiyah Jackson.

According to the preliminary investigation, 63-year-old Eugene Snellgrove was traveling west in the outside lane when Jackson, who had been walking east in the area, entered the vehicle’s lane. The vehicle struck her, resulting in devastating injuries.

Allegiance EMS personnel immediately attempted life-saving measures, doing everything possible to help Jackson. Despite those efforts, she could not be saved. Justice of the Peace Angela Griffin pronounced Aamiyah Jackson deceased at the scene. Her next of kin was notified of her passing.

Snellgrove was not injured in the crash.

For Aamiyah’s family and friends, the circumstances surrounding her death cannot erase the memories of the person she was or the impact she had on the lives around her. At only 22 years old, she had so much life ahead of her—more moments to experience, more memories to create, and more dreams that had yet to unfold. Her passing is a painful reminder of how quickly life can change and how precious every moment truly is.

Aamiyah’s loved ones are now left to grieve a loss that came far too soon. The days ahead may bring difficult moments of sadness, disbelief, and questions, but the memories she leaves behind can remain a source of comfort. The people who loved her will carry those memories forward, remembering her life not only for the tragic circumstances of her final moments, but for the person she was and the place she held in their hearts.

The Texas Department of Public Safety assisted the Big Spring Police Department with the investigation, while the Texas Department of Transportation provided traffic control at the scene. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.

As Aamiyah Jackson is remembered, thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and everyone mourning her loss. No words can fully express the pain of losing someone so young and so suddenly. May those closest to her find strength and comfort in one another during this difficult time.

Rest peacefully, Aamiyah Jackson. Your life mattered, your memory will endure, and you will never be forgotten. May you rest in eternal peace.
