With deep sorrow, we remember Ronald Williams Sr., 53, Kelly George, 44, Carol A. Williams, 9, Ronald H. Williams Jr., 7, Sarah K. Williams, 5, and Kelly M. Magee-Williams, 3, whose lives were tragically lost in a devastating shooting at a home in Winfield, Kansas.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded Tuesday morning at a residence in the 400 block of West 9th Street. Winfield police officers were called to the home at approximately 8:50 a.m. following a report of a serious situation involving a family.
Authorities are investigating the incident as an apparent murder-suicide. Police identified Ronald Williams Sr., 53, as the male suspect and confirmed that he was also among those who died.
The other five victims were identified as Kelly George, 44, along with four children: Carol A. Williams, 9, Ronald H. Williams Jr., 7, Sarah K. Williams, 5, and Kelly M. Magee-Williams, 3.
According to authorities, a man reportedly called 911 and stated that he intended to harm himself and his family, while also claiming that everyone inside the residence was deceased. Officers quickly arrived at the home and discovered the tragic scene.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) was requested to assist the Winfield Police Department with the homicide investigation. Investigators are working to gather evidence, examine the scene and establish a complete timeline of the events that led to the deaths.
The devastating loss of six lives has deeply affected the Winfield community. Families, friends and neighbors are now left mourning and trying to make sense of an unimaginable tragedy.
Four of those who died were children — Carol, Ronald Jr., Sarah and Kelly — whose young lives were tragically cut short. Their deaths have brought immense sadness to everyone who knew and loved them.
Kelly George, 44, also lost her life in the tragedy, leaving family members and loved ones to face an immeasurable loss.
Ronald Williams Sr., 53, who authorities identified as the suspect, also died in the incident. His death is included among the six fatalities being investigated by authorities.
As the investigation continues, the community remains united in grief while authorities work to establish exactly what happened and what led to the fatal shooting.
