With profound sadness, we remember Robin Parker, 62, of Springfield, whose life was tragically cut short following a two-vehicle crash on Monday morning, August 17, 2026. Robin was riding a motorcycle when she was involved in a collision at Kearney Street and Patterson Avenue. She was transported to a local hospital but sadly died from her injuries.
According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to the crash at approximately 9:14 a.m. Preliminary information indicates that a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 78-year-old Melvin Sommerfeld of Fordland was traveling eastbound on Kearney Street.
Sommerfeld was turning left onto Patterson Avenue when his pickup entered the path of Robin’s 2004 Yamaha motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on Kearney Street. The motorcycle struck the pickup during the turn, leaving Robin seriously injured.
Despite receiving medical treatment, Robin succumbed to her injuries. Her family was notified of her death.
Her passing is another heartbreaking loss for the Springfield community. Authorities said the crash was the city’s 11th fatal motor vehicle crash of 2026, bringing the total number of deaths from fatal motor vehicle crashes in Springfield this year to 12.
For Robin’s family and friends, she was much more than a name connected to a tragic accident. She was a loved one whose life touched others and whose absence will now be deeply felt. Those closest to her will carry the memories of the moments they shared, the conversations they had, and the memories that made her presence meaningful.
