With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we remember Austin McCulloch, 28, of Beaverton, Michigan, whose life was tragically cut short Monday afternoon following a fatal ATV crash in Beaverton Township.
On August 17, 2026, at approximately 4:25 p.m., deputies with the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to McCulloch Road, south of Calhoun Road, after receiving a report of a personal injury accident involving an ATV.
The call would quickly become a heartbreaking tragedy.
According to the preliminary investigation, Austin was traveling northbound on McCulloch Road while operating a 2023 Can-Am Outlander 4×4 quad-runner. During the incident, Austin lost control of the ATV, resulting in a serious crash.
Tragically, Austin did not survive.
At this time, authorities believe that no other vehicle was involved in the crash. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene and circumstances surrounding the incident, and officials have emphasized that no assumptions will be made regarding the cause of the crash while the investigation remains ongoing.
The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Beaverton Fire & Rescue and medical professionals from MyMichigan Ambulance Service.
For Austin’s family and friends, however, the investigation is only part of a much deeper tragedy. A young life has been taken far too soon, leaving behind people who now have to face the painful reality of living without someone they loved.
At just 28 years old, Austin had so much life still ahead of him. There were more memories to create, more conversations to have, more places to visit, and more moments that should have been shared with family and friends.
His sudden passing has created a void that words cannot easily describe.
Behind every fatal crash is a human story, and Austin’s story was more than the circumstances of his final moments. He was someone’s loved one, someone’s friend, and a person who mattered deeply to the people around him.
The people who knew Austin will remember more than this tragic accident. They will remember the moments that made him who he was, the memories they shared, and the impact he had on their lives.
The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office has expressed its heartfelt condolences to Austin’s family and loved ones during this devastating time. The department has also asked members of the public to refrain from posting derogatory or disrespectful comments on social media concerning Austin or his death.
That request comes at a time when his family needs compassion more than anything. Behind the screen of every social media post is a real family grieving the loss of someone they loved. Respect and kindness can make a difference during an incredibly painful moment.
As Austin’s loved ones mourn, may they find comfort in the memories he left behind. May they remember his smile, his laughter, his personality, and the countless moments that made his presence special.
May his family find strength in one another and receive support from friends, neighbors, and everyone who cares for them.
Although Austin’s life ended unexpectedly, his memory does not have to end with his passing. The people who loved him will continue to carry his memory forward, keeping alive the moments they shared and the love they had for him.
Rest peacefully, Austin McCulloch.
You were taken from this world far too soon. May your family find comfort in knowing that your life mattered, your memory will endure, and you will never be forgotten by those who loved you.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered. Never forgotten.
