With deep sorrow, we remember Austin McCulloch, 28, of Beaverton, Michigan, whose life came to a heartbreaking end Monday afternoon following an ATV crash in Beaverton Township.
The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:25 p.m. on August 17, 2026, to McCulloch Road, south of Calhoun Road, after receiving a report of a personal injury accident involving an ATV.
According to the preliminary investigation, Austin was traveling north on McCulloch Road while operating a 2023 Can-Am Outlander 4×4 quad-runner. During the incident, he lost control of the ATV, resulting in a serious crash.
Sadly, Austin suffered fatal injuries and did not survive.
Officials currently believe that no other vehicle was involved. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, and authorities have made clear that no conclusions should be drawn about the cause until the investigation is complete.
The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Beaverton Fire & Rescue and medical personnel from MyMichigan Ambulance Service.
Austin’s sudden passing has left his family, friends, and community facing an enormous loss. At only 28 years old, he had so much more life ahead of him, making his death especially difficult for everyone who knew and cared about him.
