It is with deep sadness that we remember Todd Andrew Foehrkolb, 57, of Essex, Maryland, whose life was tragically lost after he fell overboard from a boat near the mouth of Seneca Creek in Middle River. His death has brought profound grief to his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police identified Foehrkolb as the man who disappeared in the water over the weekend.
Emergency crews were called to the Miami Beach Park area at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a person who had fallen into the water.
Investigators said Foehrkolb was aboard a boat when the vessel encountered a wake. The movement of the boat caused him to fall overboard, and he did not resurface.
Authorities immediately launched a major search operation involving the Maryland Natural Resources Police, Baltimore County Police Department and Baltimore County Fire Department.
Search teams worked through the night using patrol boats, rescue divers and aviation resources to search the water and nearby areas. The operation was temporarily suspended around 1 a.m. Sunday before resuming later that day.
The search continued throughout Sunday and into Monday. Crews used boats, specialized dive teams, a helicopter and drones in an effort to locate Foehrkolb.
After hours of searching, authorities made a heartbreaking discovery at approximately 7:40 a.m. Monday, when search teams located Foehrkolb’s body near the mouth of Seneca Creek, close to the area where he was last seen.
The Baltimore County Police Department Marine Unit and Baltimore County Fire Department assisted Natural Resources Police with recovering his body.
Foehrkolb was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted. Officials said the investigation into the boating incident remains ongoing.
For Todd’s loved ones, his death represents a devastating and unexpected loss. The days spent waiting for news during the search were undoubtedly filled with uncertainty, and the discovery of his body brought a painful end to that search.
At 57, Todd had spent years building relationships, creating memories and sharing important moments with the people closest to him. His absence will now be felt during family gatherings, holidays, celebrations and everyday moments.
