With profound sadness, we remember Mary Salah, 39, of Odenville, who tragically lost her life in a head-on collision Monday morning in Moody, Alabama. Mary was killed in the crash while two of her young children were also injured and hospitalized, leaving a family and community facing an unimaginable loss.
According to Moody Police Chief Reece Smith, the fatal collision happened at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday on U.S. 411 near Lake Joyce Road.
Mary was involved in a head-on crash with another vehicle. Despite the efforts of first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy was made even more heartbreaking by the fact that two of Mary’s young children were also inside the vehicle. The children, who are not yet old enough to attend school, were transported to a hospital following the crash. Fortunately, they were reported to be in stable condition.
The driver of the second vehicle, a male, was also transported to the hospital for medical treatment. According to Chief Smith, his injuries appeared to be minor.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Authorities are continuing to work to determine what led to the head-on crash and are expected to examine the vehicles, roadway and other available evidence as they piece together what happened.
For Mary’s family and loved ones, however, the investigation is only part of the tragedy. They are now facing the heartbreaking reality of losing a 39-year-old mother and loved one in a sudden crash.
Mary’s children are also facing the loss of their mother while recovering from their own injuries. At such a young age, they should have been able to look forward to growing up with their mother beside them, sharing birthdays, school milestones, holidays and countless everyday moments.
