With broken hearts, we remember Austin McCulloch, 28, of Beaverton, Michigan, whose life was tragically cut short Monday afternoon in a devastating ATV crash in Beaverton Township.

On August 17, 2026, at approximately 4:25 p.m., deputies with the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office were called to McCulloch Road, south of Calhoun Road, following a report of a serious personal injury accident involving an ATV.

When emergency responders arrived, they were met with a heartbreaking scene. Austin, who was operating the ATV, had been involved in a crash and suffered fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of those who responded, Austin did not survive.

According to the preliminary investigation, Austin was traveling northbound on McCulloch Road on a 2023 Can-Am Outlander 4×4 quad-runner when he lost control of the ATV. The circumstances surrounding exactly what caused him to lose control remain under investigation.

Authorities have indicated that no other vehicle is believed to have been involved. Investigators are continuing their work, and officials have emphasized that no assumptions should be made about the cause of the crash while the investigation remains ongoing.

At the scene, members of Beaverton Fire & Rescue and medical professionals from MyMichigan Ambulance Service assisted the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office.

But for Austin’s family and friends, the details of an investigation cannot capture the true weight of what has been lost.

At only 28 years old, Austin’s life ended far too soon. There were still mornings he should have woken up to, conversations he should have had, places he should have gone, memories he should have made, and moments he should have shared with the people he loved.

Instead, his loved ones are now facing the unbearable reality of saying goodbye.

A sudden loss like this leaves behind questions that may never have easy answers. It leaves familiar places feeling different and ordinary moments becoming painful reminders of someone who is no longer there.

Austin was more than the circumstances of the accident. He was a person with people who cared about him, memories that mattered, and a place in the hearts of those who knew him. His life cannot be defined by the final moments of a tragic day.

The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office has expressed its heartfelt condolences to Austin’s family and loved ones. Officials have also asked members of the public to refrain from posting derogatory or disrespectful comments on social media concerning Austin or the tragedy.

In times like this, compassion matters. Behind the news of a fatal crash is a grieving family trying to process the loss of someone they loved. Words spoken online can never change what happened, but kindness and respect can help prevent additional pain during an already unbearable time.

As Austin’s loved ones begin the difficult journey of grieving, may they hold tightly to the memories that cannot be taken away—the laughter, the conversations, the good times, and every moment they were blessed to share with him.

May the memories of Austin bring comfort when the sadness feels overwhelming. May his family find strength in one another and receive the love and support of everyone around them.

Some lives are measured not by how many years they were given, but by the memories and love they leave behind.

Austin’s time was far too short, but his memory will continue.

Rest peacefully, Austin McCulloch.

You were taken from this world far too soon. May your loved ones always carry your memory in their hearts, and may the life you lived never be forgotten.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered. Never forgotten.
