Donnie Ray Woody, 44, of Walhalla, South Carolina, has tragically lost his life following a two-vehicle collision Thursday evening in Oconee County. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones mourning the sudden loss of a life that ended far too soon.

The crash happened at approximately 5:40 p.m. on South Highway 11 at the intersection with Castlebrook Drive. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, both vehicles were traveling southbound when the collision occurred.

Woody was riding a 2024 Triumph motorcycle and was making a left turn when his motorcycle was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe. The collision resulted in fatal injuries to Woody.

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Donnie Ray Woody and reported that his death was ruled accidental.

For those who knew Donnie, his death is more than a traffic tragedy—it is the loss of a beloved person whose presence meant something to the people around him. At 44 years old, he still had many moments ahead of him, memories yet to be made, and experiences to share with those he loved.

The suddenness of his passing makes the grief even more difficult. One moment, Donnie was living his life; the next, his family was faced with heartbreaking news that no loved one ever wants to receive.

Those who knew him will carry forward the memories they created together—the conversations, laughter, shared experiences, and everyday moments that become even more precious after someone is gone.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. As investigators work to determine exactly what happened, Donnie’s loved ones are left to grieve and remember the man whose life touched theirs.

May his family and friends find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and strength in one another during this painful time.

Rest in peace, Donnie Ray Woody. Your life mattered, your memory will endure, and you will never be forgotten.
