Jadet Forman, 37, and Gabrielle Forman, 30, have been identified by Cohoes officials after the couple was found dead inside their Harmony Mills apartment Tuesday afternoon in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide.

According to Cohoes officials, an autopsy conducted Wednesday, August 19, confirmed that Jadet Forman fatally shot his wife, Gabrielle, before turning the gun on himself. Police said the incident stemmed from domestic issues and that the couple had reportedly been headed toward divorce.

Authorities said the shooting involved a 9mm ghost gun. Investigators also reported that Jadet had no known criminal history.

Police were initially called to the Harmony Mills complex Tuesday morning after receiving multiple reports of possible gunshots at approximately 11 a.m. Officers responded to the area and began assessing the situation inside the apartment.

The couple was ultimately found dead at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Cohoes Police Chief Todd Waldin said officers and investigators spent several hours determining whether it was safe to enter the apartment. Because authorities did not immediately know the circumstances inside the residence or whether a threat remained, law enforcement proceeded cautiously.

At a press conference Wednesday, Waldin provided additional details about the investigation and explained that the couple’s injuries were fatal. He said that even if officers had been able to enter the apartment sooner, the outcome would not have changed because both individuals had already died.

The circumstances have left family members, friends and the Cohoes community facing a devastating loss. Gabrielle, just 30 years old, lost her life in a violent incident that authorities say occurred amid difficulties in the couple’s relationship.

Investigators are continuing to examine the events that preceded the shooting as they work to establish a complete timeline of what happened inside the apartment.

The incident has also drawn attention to the dangers associated with domestic disputes, particularly when firearms are involved. Authorities have indicated that the couple’s relationship was experiencing significant difficulties and that they were reportedly moving toward divorce.

While investigators work to close the case, those who knew Gabrielle are left to remember her life beyond the circumstances of her death. Her family and friends must now cope with the sudden loss and the difficult questions that follow such a tragedy.

The investigation remains a painful reminder of how quickly a domestic situation can escalate and result in irreversible consequences.

Authorities have not indicated that anyone else was injured in the incident. Further information may be released as officials continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The loss of Gabrielle and Jadet has left a lasting impact on those connected to them, while the Cohoes community continues to process the tragedy that unfolded at Harmony Mills.
