With profound sadness, we remember 14-year-old Connor T. Braden of Latrobe, whose young life was tragically cut short Monday night in a fatal train-pedestrian accident in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

According to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office, Connor was walking along the railroad tracks near milepost 320 in Hempfield Township when he was struck by an eastbound Norfolk Southern cargo train at approximately 8:57 p.m. Monday. Despite the circumstances, Connor could not be saved and was pronounced dead at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The coroner’s office determined that Connor’s cause of death was blunt force injuries sustained after being struck by the train. The Pennsylvania State Police also responded to and investigated the heartbreaking incident, with additional details expected to be released as the investigation continues.

Connor was only 14 years old—a young life filled with possibilities, dreams, and a future that should have stretched far ahead. His passing is a devastating reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply the loss of a young person can affect a family and an entire community.

At an age when there should have been more memories to make, more milestones to celebrate, and more moments to share with loved ones, Connor’s life came to an unimaginable end. His family and those who knew him are now left to grieve a loss that words can never fully describe.

During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Connor’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone who knew and loved him. Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and no family should ever have to face such heartbreak.

May the memories Connor leaves behind bring some measure of comfort to those who loved him. Though his life was far too short, the impact of his presence will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office also expressed appreciation for the public’s assistance during the identification process.

Rest peacefully, Connor T. Braden.
Your life mattered. Your memory will not be forgotten. May you rest in eternal peace, and may your family find strength and comfort in the days ahead.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
