HAWESVILLE, Ky. — A tragic single-vehicle crash in Hancock County has claimed the lives of two local men, leaving families, friends, and members of the surrounding communities mourning their sudden deaths.
The victims were identified as 23-year-old Sean Woosley of Hawesville and 25-year-old Joshua Wood of Lewisport. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene following the crash Saturday night near the intersection of KY-271 and Hilldale Road.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 16, troopers were dispatched by Hancock County authorities shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, following reports of a serious collision in the area.
When authorities arrived, they began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that a red 1998 Ford Mustang had been traveling in the area before leaving the roadway and striking an embankment.
