ARTESIA, N.M. — The Artesia community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 51-year-old Jaime R. Wesson, who died following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 285 and 26th Street late Saturday afternoon, August 15.

According to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, emergency personnel, and members of the department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene at approximately 4:28 p.m.

Despite the response of emergency crews, Jaime did not survive the crash.

Sheriff Matthew Hutchinson identified the victim as Jaime R. Wesson of Artesia. Authorities confirmed that Jaime’s next of kin has been notified.

For those who knew and loved Jaime, this tragedy is more than a traffic collision. It is the sudden loss of a loved one, a friend, a family member, and a person whose presence will be deeply missed.
